Managing Editor: Draft 385 / 『みやこ風』 |
Period | 2023/12~ | Activity form | Social Activities | Title | Managing Editor: Draft 385 / 『みやこ風』 | Category | Newspaper or magazine | Role | Chief Editor,Organizing Member,Contribution | Audience | College students,Graduate students | Details | In April 2024, I became the faculty sponsor for Draft 385 / 『みやこ風』, a roughly bi-annual zine of poetry, prose, art and translation, which is edited, produced and published by ICU undergraduates.
This publication grew out of a collaborative final project I led in my MCC385 (Advanced Studies in Translation) class in Winter 2023, which was designed to showcase and critically engage with translation as a creative practice, as well as reflect on the meaning(s) of "bilingual" in phrases like "bilingual education" and "bilingual university."
Work on the publication takes place in both MCC385 and in a student organization on campus (also called Draft 385 / 『みやこ風』), providing students and club members alike the opportunity to experience various roles in the editing, marketing, production and distribution of a small-scale publication. | |
