概要 | The TPP represents a challenge to East Asian economic integration while for India; the TPP represents a strategic opportunity at the economic, political and
security level. Linking North America, South America and participating countries East Asia (including New Zealand and Australia), the TPP reorients trade relations across the Asia-Pacific instead of a China-centered economic integration model. By bolstering transpacific trade and in particular through the South China Sea, this paper argues that the TPP anchors TPP members economically and security-wise to the region. This buttressing of economic and security commitments to the region contributes to a multilateralization of the common goods associated with the South China Sea while increasing the stakes for countries interested in changing the status quo or engaging in assertive behaviour. This paper investigates the economic and security ramifications of the TPP and APEC from the perspective of India. |
