Insights from the Revision of Teacher Training System in Thailand: What Kind of Competency Should Secondary Japanese Language Teachers Possess? ICU Studies in Japanese Language Education 19,pp.3-20 (Single) 2023/03

Language | Japanese | Publication Date | 2023/03 | Type | Research Paper (Bulletin of University/Institution) | Peer Review | With peer review | Title | Insights from the Revision of Teacher Training System in Thailand: What Kind of Competency Should Secondary Japanese Language Teachers Possess? | Contribution Type | Single Work | Journal | ICU Studies in Japanese Language Education | Journal Type | Japan | Publisher | International Christian University, the Research Center for Japanese Language Education | Volume, Issue, Pages | 19,pp.3-20 | Authorship | Lead author | Author and coauthor | Ai Nishino | Details | The purpose of this study is to identify the goals and framework of the new teacher training system in Thailand and to investigate its effect on Japanese language teacher training. Research questions are as follows: 1. Are the needed competencies of “teachers as professionals” different from those in the past? 2. How will the quality be ensured? 3. How does the Japanese language teaching program respond to these changes? The findings of the survey showed the following points: 1. Competencies remained relatively the same, but the importance of practical training increased; 2. Through official licensing exams and degree certification, the same level of quality was guaranteed; 3. Although the time spent studying Japanese was reduced in the Japanese language teaching program, the emphasis was on training teachers as professionals. The results of this study are crucial for future collaboration and support between Thailand and Japan. |
