1. My research focuses on the social implications of new communication technologies in particular spatial, social, and communication environments. In particular, I have examined new and old media in different spatial contexts such as urban communities in different cities; in social contexts such as disaster and post-disaster situations; and in rapidly changing communication environments. Specific research/theoretical focus includes digital divide and Internet connectedness, communication infrastructure and community, media system dependency theory and communication ecology.
