■ Profile
I am a media studies scholar taking an interdisciplinary and ethnographic approach to audience consumption, media globalization and media’s shaping of society.

I received my doctoral degree, PhD, in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths, University of London. My PhD thesis examines the Taiwanese consumption of foreign TV programs via online sharing. Ilooked at the implications such consumption has for the changing role of television in society, the construction of cultural identities, and cultural power relationships between countries.

I am a research member of the Global Internet Television Consortium, a transnational network for research on Netflix and other internet-distributed TV services found by Prof. Amanda Lotz (Queensland University of Technology) and Dr. Ramon Lobato (RMIT University, Melbourne). As a Consortium member, I am responsible for analyzing Netflix’s development in, and its implications for, the media environment in Taiwan and Japan.

My new research project looks at how high-profile Hollywood celebrities’ social media accounts shape the fan-celebrity relationship and promotes the celebritization of contemporary society.

I am the author of the multi-award-winning book The Great Assembly of Doraemon Collections (in Mandarin, 2002).
